Born in Houston, Texas in 1974, I was inspired and encouraged since childhood to become an Artist. My father went to Art School and was gifted in Design and Photography while my mother had a natural talent for Drawing both still life and nature. It seems inevitable that I became an Artist as well.

At a very young and impressionable age, my Artistic Muse and imagination were fueled by growing up in Space City (NASA), seeing the original Star Wars movies, and reading scifi & fantasy books bought by my mother; an addiction that started with J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit and C.S. Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia.

When I was 8 years old, I snuck into my father's studio and took his set of acrylics so I could paint a poster of a wildlife scene that I got from my school's Book Club. At 10 years old I entered my first Art Show competition. I then dabbled in Color Theory, Graphic Design and was fascinated by Patrick Nagel's works of art which were very prolific at the time. I then discovered role playing games (AD&D) and comic books (Uncanny X-men) and by the end of the decade, I began to draw sketches of characters for the gaming group I was in. By the 1990's, I moved into classical illustration with encouragement from my family and friends.

In 1995, I established my own business identity, Albrecht Illustrations, and then leaped "paintbrush first" into the fantasy illustration industry. My first Professional show was NASFIC/Dragon-Con 1995, held in Atlanta, Georgia. Since then, I have shown at such prestigious shows as World Horror Con, World Fantasy Con, GenCon, Comic-Con San Diego, and World Science Fiction & Fantasy Con. My works have appeared in several magazine and gaming publications for such companies as: White Wolf, DNA Publications, Vajra Enterprises and Dark Muse Comics.

Deriving much of my inspiration and creativity from mythology, ancient history, music, and classic literature, some of my favorite inspirations are: Homer, Greek Mythology, Ancient Egypt, Classical Antiquity, Sir Thomas Malory, Dante Alighieri, William Shakespeare, John Milton, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, Richard Wagner, Bram Stoker, Mary Shelley, Edgar Allen Poe, William Blake, John Williams, Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer and music from the Cirque Du Soleil.

Master Painters and Classical Artists that have influenced my passion for art include: Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema, John William Waterhouse, The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, Jean Andre Rixens, Leonardo de Vinci, Michelangelo, Rembrandt, Gustave Dore, Arthur Rackham, and Alphonse Mucha.

Contemporary Artists that have inspired my art include: Alan Lee, Virgil Finlay, The Brothers Hildebrandt, Patrick Nagel, Yoshitaka Amano, Frank Frazetta, Michael William Kaluta, and Drew Struzan.

In 2011, I decided to pursue a formal education in Painting and so I am currently attending Austin Community College with the intent to transfer to the University of Texas to get a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting.

I currently reside in Round Rock, Texas with my husband, daughter and my 5 miniature dachshunds. I am also currently working on my BFA in Painting with a Minor in Art History.
