"AB
LUCI" (From Light)
For
this painting, I have to start by saying that I am greatly fascinated
with the mythology and history of angels and fallen angels. I conceived
an idea to create a triptych that would depict the battle between
the forces of Light and Darkness with stained glass window representations
of them and that is how this painting triptych was born.
AB LUCI is Latin for "From [the] Light" and this illustration is
the first in the triptych series of paintings depicting the Battle
of Light and Shadow
AB LUCI shows a female angel wielding a partizan entwined with dark
blue ribbons with a flight of white doves flying around her. She
is dressed in pale blue and has reddish blonde hair with a halo
around her. For the background I wanted a scene of the sun rising
over the land and I found inspiration from a stained glass work
of art called The Dawning of the Last Day by Frederick Ashwin,
that was done in 1871.
The next painting in the triptych series is called "IN
UMBRAM" (Into Shadow). The
Final painting in this triptych series will be titled "BELLUM LUCIS
ET UMBRAE", Latin for "The Battle of Light and Shadow".
AB
LUCI is currently being re-designed & re-painted.
